On New Years day I had the opportunity to teach at our Saturday Night Family Bible Study. As everyone had their resolutions fresh at hand, I challenged the group to seek a new level of fellowship with Christ this new year. Listed below is a copy of the notes that guided us through a few of the promises God has in store for us daily and the year to come.
Claiming God’s Promises for 2011
God promises new troubles, new mercies and new hope every day this year.
–John Piper
New Troubles- We are promised that we will struggle, hurt and suffer. It is the result of a fallen world around us.
• “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34
New Mercies - Troubles will pass, put his Mercy and Grace are perfect.
• The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24
• LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. Psalm 16:5
New Hope – He is the source of our hope of things of the present and of things to come.
• So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 2 Cor. 4:16
• But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
• “And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.”
John 17:19
All things NEW……………………….And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5
I pray that this year as you chase your goals and dreams, that your number one pursuit is Him, and making Him famous to all nations.
Because of His Grace
